Legal Administrative Specialist
|
Mission: The mission of this program is to prepare students for employment in a legal office environment.
Program B072000 consists of a planned sequence of courses.
Information Technology Assistant - Course OTA0040 (150 Hours) – This course is designed to provide a basic overview of current business and information systems and trends and to introduce students to the basics and foundations required for today’s business environments. Emphasis is placed on developing proficiency with touch keyboarding and fundamental computer applications so that they may be used as communication tools for enhancing personal and work-place proficiency in an information-based society. This also includes proficiency with computers using word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software that meets industry standards. Job-seeking techniques, career planning, and success strategies will also be introduced.
Front Desk Specialist - Course OTA0041 (300 Hours) – Builds on the skills introduced in Course OTA0040 and includes appropriate customer service strategies, leadership and supervision techniques, and technology applications. Emphasis is placed on developing proficiency with software applications as tools for accomplishing job objectives and enhancing workplace performance.
Administrative Support - Course OTA0042 (150 Hours) – Offers coursework that is designed to assist with administrative office duties in a support capacity. The course explores and expands the core competencies in the areas of personal and professional development and promotes application of higher level office procedures, tasks and communication skills through the use of technology. Business law concepts are introduced.
Legal Administrative Specialist - Course OTA0050 (450 Hours) – Offers coursework that is designed to assist with administrative office duties and procedures specific to the legal environment. Students will be required to perform higher level thinking and decision making, to use technology to increase legal office support productivity and enhance workplace performance, to produce quality work in an efficient manner, and to transcribe legal documents from machine dictation. Prerequisites: courses OTA0040, OTA0041, and OTA0042.
