Nursing Program Admission Information
Practical Nursing Admissions Process
 
Applicants are encouraged to complete steps one through four at any time.  TABE and TEAS results are valid for two years.  You must score at least at the 11th grade on the "A" level of the TABE test to be eligible to take the TEAS test and apply for the practical nursing program.
 

Step One:
Carefully review the Essential Functions form. You must be able to perform all of the essential functions either with or without reasonable accommodations. Click here to view the Essential Functions form.  Please inform the practical nursing admissions counselor if you will be requesting accommodations.
Step Two:
Pay a $15 non-refundable application fee. Click here to view the Bookstore Hours.
Step Three:
Take the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) and consult with a pTEC counselor regarding scores. Click here for the TABE testing schedule. 
 
Or
 
Consult with a pTEC counselor on valid and current TABE scores (within the past two years) from another school or organization.
 
Or
 
Consult with a pTEC counselor providing proof of an Associates degree or higher from an approved U.S. accredited institution.
Step Four:
Take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS).  Click here for information on TEAS testing at pTEC.  Additional Information on the TEAS may be obtained form the Website http://www.atitesting.com/.
Step Five:
Attend a mandatory admissions seminar for the next available class. Please go to the Applications, Forms, Etc. tab and download and print the application form.  You must bring a copy of the application form to the admissions seminar.  The purpose of the admissions seminar is to review with applicants what needs to be done in order to submit a fully complete application.   The application deadline is included in the downloaded packet and will be reviewed during the admissions seminar.  Application packets will not be accepted at the mandatory admissions seminar.
Step Six:
Submit to pTEC a fully completed application packet by the specified deadline.
Step Seven:
Completed application packets are evaluated, rated and ranked. Class slots are filled working from the highest to lowest ranking applicants. Click here to view the admissions criteria.
Step Eight:
Letters  or emails are sent to applicants specifying one of the following:
1. Accepted to begin the next available class with all fees due within 10 business days of the start of the class
2. Accepted into the next available class as an alternate to be notified if someone from the original acceptance roster should withdraw. All fees are due upon notification of space availability. If not enrolled in class, the applicant will need to re-apply for the next available class.
3. Class is full and the applicant will need to re-apply for the next available class.
