Q: How much does it cost to attend pTEC?
A: Tuition is currently $2.00 a clock hour. Each fee period is 225 hours at a cost of $450.00. In addition, there are one time and recurring fees, books, and tools for each program. Contact the Guidance office in Student Services for more details. In general, the total average cost of a program is around $2500.
Q: How can I qualify for financial aid?
A: PTEC is eligible to provide financial aid through Pell Grants, VA Benefits, state and private scholarships and special grant-funded programs. For more information please visit our

Q: Do I need a high school diploma or GED to attend PTEC?
A: For most programs you do not need a high school diploma or GED prior to attending PTEC. You can work towards your GED through the Technical Resource Center while you are enrolled in your training program. Q: What are class hours?
A: Class meeting times vary. Contact the guidance office of the campus you will be attending for more details. Generally, workforce education students attend class for 25 hours per week. Continuing education classes are generally held two evenings a week for 3 hours.
Q: Are there rules regarding attendance?
A: There is an attendance policy at PTEC. Adult students are expected to be in class everyday except for emergencies. You will be provided with a copy of the attendance policy during the new student orientation.
High school students who attend PTEC follow the guidelines set forth by the Pinellas County School Board.
Q: Are there rules regarding dress?
A: Students' dressing and grooming shall be appropriate for the classroom and program labs. A set of general guidelines is included in the Pinellas County Postsecondary Student Code of Conduct. Some programs have more specific dress requirements.

A: You can receive detailed information about PTEC's programs in a number of ways. School catalogs and individual program brochures are available in the guidance office. You can also make an appointment to meet with a counselor or visit the training program you are considering. You can also check out the individual web pages describing each program. Q: How do I enroll at PTEC?
A: Most programs enroll new students five times during the year – in August, October, January, March and May. You can call or visit the school in person and the guidance department will be more than happy to give you all the details.
