Pinellas Technical Education Centers (pTEC) brought home victory medals again as 18 students earned gold, silver and bronze medals during the national competition for SkillsUSA in Kansas City. Overall, 36 pTEC champions represented the state of Florida in a week of intense competition that culminated at the awards ceremony June 25th.
Seven students won gold medals in the areas of Community Service, Video Product Development and Promotional Bulletin Board. Five students captured the silver medal in Sustainability Solutions and Tech Prep Showcase. Six bronze medals were awarded in the Tech Prep Showcase competitions as well. In addition to pTEC winners, Pinellas Park High School won a bronze medal in Criminal Justice.
These medals were earned in the largest SkillsUSA competition to date, with over 5,600 students representing all 50 states, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. pTEC Clearwater and pTEC St. Petersburg SkillsUSA chapters were also recognized as 100 percent membership chapters.
